computer on 24/7

is it safe to leave my computer on 24/7?
 will anything wear out?
if so, dell will replace it right?

Regards to the warranty, your system will remain under the warranty, if it's left on or turned off several times daily.

Probably no negative impact within the warranty periods offered. Wouldn't be a problem with XP as your OS.

You will use more electricity

You will bring more dust into the machine in a shorter period of time.

You will be exposed to power problems 24 hours per day (a UPS would solve this  and is a good idea regardless).

The answer I see most to this question recently is "either way is fine, the hardware shouldn't be a problem whichever way you decide".

I've heard leaving the computer on 24/7 can actually save some wear and tear on the computer.

For example, I've heard that the hard drive was spared some wear if the pc is left on constantly.

I did it with my laptop and there seemed to be no adverse effects.
